The Arlington Midgets bounce on the Elkhorn Cowboys with a 31 - 15 win. The Eagle offense line figured out the way to get around the Cowboys 10 - 1 touted defense the entire game. With 4:30 left in the first quarter, half-back, Adam Monke, ran off left-tackle and raced 82 yards for a touchdown. After a couple of exchanges and an Arlington fumble at the start of the 2nd quarter, Elkhorn drove down to the Arlington 20 yard line. On a 4th and 15 yards to go, the Arlington defense held on an incomplete pass. The extra point failed. It didn't take too long for Arlington to add to their lead. With 3:30 left in the 2nd quarter, quarterback, Adam Loftis, sweeped around the right side of the Cowboy defense and raced 80 yards for another touchdown. Extra point failed. Arlington 12 Elkhorn 0. In the 3rd quarter the Cowboy defense made a big play when they blocked (and caught) an Arlington punt and raced in for the touchdown. The extra point was good. After a couple of exchanges, the Arlington offense scored on a 60 yard run by Adam Loftis with 2:44 remaining in the 3rd quarter. The extra point was good. In the 4th quarter, Arlington had a touchdown on a punt return called back on a penalty, however, on the next play from scrimmage, Adam Monke scored on a 65 yard run with 7:49 remaining in the fourth quarter. Extra point failed. Elkhorn returned the next kick to the Arlington 15 yard line and found a way to score. Extra point failed. Arlington recovered an unsuccessful on-side kick at their 43 yard line, then put away the Cowboys with an Adam Loftis, 56 yard run for a touchdown with 4:15 in the quarter. Extra point failed. The Arlington defense, which played with intensity the entire game and with their feet transplanted in the end zone, stopped Elkhorn from scoring on a 4th down and the ball at the 1 yard line. Elkhorn added 2 points to their score on a safety in the end zone. |
