Midget Eagles trounce on Elkhorn Jaquars, 39-0 9/19/99 - A light rain was falling before the start of the game and lasted through the first half, but it didn't bother the Arlington Midgets (2-1) as they thoroughly dominated the Elkhorn Jaquars the entire game. It didn't take long for the Eagles to strike. During their first possession, Adam Monke ran 43 yards through a wide offensive hole for the TD. With the successful extra point, Arlington led 7 to 0. The Eagle defense intercepted a pass at the Jaquar 47 yard line and then the offense scored quickly with Adam Monke running 37 yards for the touchdown. With Arlington leading 13 to 0, Arlington blocked a 4th down Jaguar punt at the Arlington 42 yard line. On the next play, Adam Monke raced 58 yards for the TD. Arlington led 20 to 0 with the successful extra point. The Jaguar offense couldn't get any offense going on the first three downs. The Eagle defensive rose to the occasion on fourth down by tackling the Jaquar punter at the 2 yard line and took possession. With the offense line leading the way, Tucker Merz ran in for the touchdown. The half time ended with the Eagles leading the Jaquars, 27 - 0. Early in the second half, Eagle defender, Marshal Hoffman, intercepted a Jaquar pass at the Arlington 45 yard line and ran 21 yards to the Jaquar 34 yard line. On third down, at the Jaquar 36, quarterback, Trevor Cucinello, saw an opening and never looked back. Arlington led 33 to 0 with the extra point failing. After a couple of fumbles on both sides, the Eagles looked to score one more time. Adam Monke took the pitch and scampered 25 yards for the final touchdown of the game. The Midget's next game is on October 3rd, , 3 PM, at theYutan High school field. |
