Midget Eagles soar past Packers, 25 - 6

10/10/99 - The Eagles (4-1) started out slow, but with their coaches  vocal encouragement, picked up the pace and never looked back.  On the opening kickoff, the Elkhorn Packers returned it 69 yards for the touchdown.  The Eagles quickly lost possession of the ball, but their defense held the Packers on all three downs.  The Eagles gave the ball back to the Packers on another fumble at the Arlington 27 yard line.  The Packer offense quickly attacked with a 12 yard pass completion to the 15 yard line.  But on the next play, the Eagle defense intercepted the Packer pass.  With a minute to play in the 1st quarter, Adam Monke ran 74 yards for a touchdown with the offensive line providing some excellent blocks.

In the second quarter, the Packers rant the kickoff to the Eagle 30 yard line, however Ben Johnson stopped the Packer advance by intercepting a pass the the 22 yard line.  It only took the Eagle offense three plays to march 78 yards and score when Adam Loftis ran 52 yards for the touchdown with 3:40 left in the quarter.  The extra point failed.  The Packers gave up the ball again when the Eagle defense intercepted a pass at the Packer 35 yard line.  On the first play from scrimmage, the Eagle offense opened up the hole for a 35 yard run for the touchdown.  The extra point pass to Tyler Chappelear was good.

With 6:29 left in the 3rd quarter, Seth Pearson took the hand-off and ran around the right side of the Packer defense and scored on a 39 yard run.  The extra point failed.

During the 4th quarter, Eagle defender Robbie Mohon recovered a fumble at the Packer 34 yard line. The Eagles moved the ball down to the Packer 7 and were faced with a 4th down and 7 yards to go.  Quarterback Trevor Cucinello faked the hand-off, rolled around the left side and dove into the end zone.  However the touchdown run was called back on a penalty and the Eagles failed on the next effort.  The game ended with the Eagle defense stopping the Packers deep in their own territory.
