Eagles scrimmage South Omaha team

The Arlington Eagle Pee Wee team took advantage of a bye week in their EVW schedule to scrimmage the South Omaha Broncos.  Because the Broncos were made up of 8 & 9 year olds, the scrimmage gave the Eagles a chance to gain experience and game time for some of the younger players.

Arlington kicked to the Broncos to open the game, but a fumble recovery by Kyle Reinhardt gave the Eagles their first chances on offense, but to no avail as Arlington had to punt it back giving the Omaha team the ball back on their own 32 yard line.  The Broncos were able to put together a sustained drive and scored on a 10 yard quarterback keeper play.  The Eagle defense held on the point after and the 1st quarter ended with the Broncos up 6 - 0.

In the 2nd quarter, the Eagle defense came up big when Kyle Reinhardt again recovered a Bronco fumble and raced 55 yards to score.  The pass for the point after fell incomplete, and the first half ended with a 6 - 6 tie.

The 2nd half started with Arlington receiving the kickoff, but a lost fumble killed the opening drive.  The Eagle defense again played well, with Brittian Adams, Adam Maas and Colton Keig making big plays in the Bronco backfield to stop any hopes of an Omaha score.  The teams finished the half without any additional scoring and the game ended in a 6 - 6 tie.

The game headed into overtime, with each team getting the ball on the 10 yard line.  Arlington scored first with Chase Kraochvil scoring on a dive play up the middle, but the Eagles were unable to add the point after.   The Eagle defense held the Broncos for the first 4 plays of their overtime possession, but Omaha scored on their final attempt and were able to convert their point after to win the scrimmage 13 - 12.

The Eagles head back into league play with a 4 - 1 record, taking on the Elkhorn Packers on Sunday, October 17th, 1:00 pm at the Arlington High School field.
