Eagles defeat Rams in Pee Wee season opener 18-13.

The Arlington Eagles Pee Wee team defeated the Elkhorn Rams in the opening game of the 1999 season.  Two touchdowns by running back Thomas Grove, as well as a touchdown by quarterback Adam Hamre provided all the scoring necessary for the Eagles to get by the Rams.

The first score came with 2:51 remaining in the first quarter, when Grove scored on a run around the strong right side of the Eagle offensive line.

In the second quarter, Hamre got to the 2 yard line of the Rams on a well executed end around play, but a fumble on the next play killed the drive, and Arlington settled for a 6-0 lead at the half.

The third quarter was scoreless until Hamre scored with 2:44 remaining, giving the Eagles a 12-0 lead heading into the final period.  Elkhorn scored quickly in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles provided the game-winning touchdown shortly thereafter when Grove scored again on a long play from scrimmage with 6:26 remaining in the game, putting the Eagles up 18 - 6.

Elkhorn proved that they weren't yet willing to give up, when they scored on a hard-fought drive, scoring from the Arlington 3 yard line with 5:48 left in the game.  The touchdown and successful point-after put the Rams within 5 points of the Eagles.

Elkhorn later got the ball back and proceeded to drive against the Eagle defense.  With 32 seconds remaining and the Rams on the Eagle 31 yard line, Kyle Reinhardt recoverd a Ram fumble that clinched the game for Arlington.
