Eagle Pee Wees secure shot at EVW Championship The Arlington Eagle Pee Wee team closed out the regular season by defeating the Elkhorn Jaguars and securing 1st place in the EVW league. The Eagle starting defense made up of Adam Hamre, Beau Brown, Chase Kratochvil, Alvin Voss, Nick Mohon, Thomas Grove, Doug Hilzendeger, Nathan Korus, Claire Rogers, Troy Thies and Jordan Johnon made the difference in the game, not allowing the Jaguars a single score in the ballgame. The contest started with Arlington receiving the opening kickoff and marching down to the Jaguar 45 yard line before Thomas Grove broke open through a gaping hole in the line, cutting and weaving through the Jaguar defense and scoring. Taylor Johnson added the point after, putting the Eagles up 7 - 0 with 5:19 remaining in the first quarter. Arlington again scored when quarterback Adam Hamre scored on a 38 yard touchdown run to end the quarter. Taylor Johnson again added the point after. The second quarter was highlighted by the Eagle defense, forcing repeated penalties and yardage losses on the Jaguars, and the first half ended up with Arlington leading 14 - 0. Arlington kicked off to open the second half, but the defense again stepped up to the challenge, forcing the Jaguars to punt. Arlington then showed off their offensive power, staging a long drive capped by Thomas Grove's 7 yard scoring run. The point after pass from Hamre to Nathan Korus was good and Arlington led 21 - 0. The forth quarter began with Elkhorn moving against the Eagle second team defense, finally moving to the Arlington 8 yard line. The defense got tough and held the Jaguars, forcing Elkhorn to turn the ball over on downs at the Arlington 6 yard line. On the very next play, quarterback Kyle Reinhardt broke open on a quick play up the middle and scrambled 94 yards to add the final touchdown of the game. The point after was no good and the game ended with an Eagle Victory, 27 - 0. The Arlington Eagles will play for the EVW Championship trophy on Sunday, October 31, 12:00 noon at the EVW field in Elkhorn against the Valley Terriers. |
