Midgets Game #2

MIDGET EAGLES  LOSE SCRIMMAGE TO OMAHA

The Arlington Eagle Midgets (1-0) lost their scrimmage with a
tough Omaha Screaming Eagles team in muddy action on a steamy Sunday at Colin Field in Omaha.

Arlington kicked off to Omaha whose opening drive dominated first quarter play.  Despite a strong defensive effort led by Beau Brown, Seth Pearson and Thomas Grove, Omaha scored but a fumble stopped their extra point attempt.
Seth Pearson received Omaha's kickoff and Arlington had possession as the second quarter began, but were held to a fifteen yard drive.

The strong running offense of the Screaming Eagles was hard to contain, but with the help of Thomas Grove, Josh Gloeb, Beau Brown, Joseph Hansen and Jordon Johnson, Omaha's second drive failed.  Unfortunately they quickly regained possession with an Arlington fumble as the first half came to an end.

Second half play began with Arlington's Jordon Johnson returning the kickoff to the 46 yard line, but two plays later the Eagles gave up possession again with a fumble.  Good blitzing by Nathan Hilgenkamp and Tyler Kotrous pushed Omaha back for a loss.  Taylor Escamilla and the defensive line stopped Omaha cold giving the Arlington offense possession at their 37 yard line.  A good run by Seth Pearson was followed by another Arlington fumble in the next play, but this one was recovered by Marshal Hoffman.  The Eagles steadily advanced the ball to
Omaha's 30 yard line, but there action stalled and possession went to Omaha on downs.

Fourth quarter play found Omaha at their 34, but they advanced to Arlington's 33 in the next play.  Another hard push by the Screaming Eagles was stopped by Marshall Hoffman at the 17 yard line, but the next play brought Omaha another touchdown.  This time their extra point attempt was good as well.  With injuries sustained in this muddy melee by Cody Falk, Adam Hamre and Alvin Voss, Arlington Coaches Scott Hamre and Steve Johnson decide to call this scrimmage to an end to avoid possibly more serious injury to any players.
Seth Pearson of the Arlington Eagles was awarded a good sportsmanship trophy by Omaha's Screaming Eagles
and the team was given a runner's up award for the day's action.  The day concluded with pop and watermelon for all.
