Eagles: 19      Blair Gold: 6

Midgets Game #3

MIDGET EAGLES DEFEAT BLAIR GOLD 19 - 6

9/10/00 - The Arlington Eagle Midgets (2-0) won handily over the Blair Gold Sunday at Arlington High School's football field with a 19 to 6 victory.

Blair Gold kicked off for the start of this game with a return by Adam Hamre.  Fumbles by Arlington gave the Gold a couple of early chances, but aggressive coverage by the Eagle's defense including Doug Hilzendeger, Bruce Mastin, Chase Kratochvil, and Alvin Voss held them tight.  A short punt puts the Eagles back in command at the end of the first quarter.

A big series of good runs by Nick Layman takes Arlington down the field but they finally yield on downs. The pressure by Taylor Escamilla, Thomas Grove and Jordon Johnson is just too much for the Blair  team and once again they punt to the Eagles.  The hard driving effort of players like Michael Dobson,        Quinton Cottle, Cody Falk Adam Maas and Stephan Lowe help make a pass by Seth Pearson to Bruce Mastin and his touchdown possible as Arlington takes the lead 6 - 0. In quick succession Blair ran down field for their only score, but that fueled the Eagle's fire as Adam Hamre returned the Gold's kickoff to Blair's 42 yard line and just as fast Thomas Grove ran one in for six more points! Solid blocking by Nathan Korus helped make Seth Pearson's run for the extra point successful and  Arlington goes to half-time with a 13 - 6 lead.

Arlington kicks off to start the 3rd quarter, but the Gold is stopped by hard hitting Joseph Hansen and Doug Hilzendeger.  Blair's attempt to punt goes badly and the Eagles take possession at Gold's  3rd yard line.  Jordan Johnson runs right up the middle for Arlington's third touchdown making it 19 - 6.  Once again Blair's drives go no where with the Eagle's Marshal Hoffman, John Mark Hunter, Josh Gloeb and Beau Brown holding them tight.

Nick Layman and Chase Kratochvil run with the ball for the Eagles in fourth quarter action, but this quarter turns largely defensive for both teams as exhaustion and heat take their toll.  Nathan Hilgenkamp, Tyler Kotrous and Conor Harper squash any Blair hope to score.  The Arlington Eagles will next play Yutan at Arlington Sunday September 17th at 2:00 P.M.
