Arlington's Midget Eagles Shutout the Gretna Bears

Gretna received the opening kickoff but their drive went nowhere against the tremendous Eagle defense of Nathan Hilgenkamp, Taylor Escamilla, Doug Hilzendeger, Alvin Voss, Jordan Johnson, Marshall Hoffman and Chase Kratochvil. Arlington immediately took command with Adam Hamre's punt return to the fifty, followed with a touchdown run by Seth Pearson giving the Eagles an early lead. A brief Bear's possession ended with Bruce Mastin's pass interception and touchdown run. Thomas Grove ran the extra point in setting the score at 13 - 0 Arlington.

A desperate Gretna defense hit Arlington hard but Adam Maas, Stephan Lowe, John Mark Hunter, Josh Gloeb, Tyler Kotrous, Quinton Cottle and Beau Brown held strong and led by Cody Falk, Nick Layman and Michael Dobson battled downfield. Redoubled pressure by the Bears hampered the Eagle's drive, but disastrous turnovers were avoided by Nick Layman and Josh Gloeb with their recovery of fumbles forced by pounding Gretna tackles,. The Bear's final offensive drives fell apart in the wake of Conor Harper, Cody Falk, Nathan Korus and Joseph Hansen's defensive might.
