Eagles: 6           Packers: 12

Midgets Game #7

Arlington VS Elkhorn

Elkhorn Packers Edge Arlington Eagles Midgets

The Arlington midgets lost a heart breaker to the Elkhorn Packers 12 - 6.
Arlington received the opening kick-off and ran it back to their own 48
rd line. The Eagles quickly moved the ball down the field behind the
strong blocking of Nathan Hilgenkamp, Conor Harper, Taylor Escamilla,
Joseph Hansen, Nathan Korus, and Doug Hilzendeger. Bruce Mastin crossed the
goal line with 6:35 left in the first quarter. The extra point attempt failed.

The Packers first possession started at their own 25 yard line. They were
able to move the ball just 17 yards, thanks to the aggressive play of the
Eagle defense, which included Thomas Grove, Jordon Johnson, Conor Harper,
Joseph Hansen, Adam Hamre, Chase Kratochvil, Bruce Mastin, Doug
Hilzendeger, Seth Pearson, Taylor Escamilla, and Nathan Hilgenkamp. The
Eagles took over, on downs, at the Packers 42 yard line.

Once again, Arlington was moving the ball but the drive stalled at the 33
yard line of Elkhorn when the Eagles failed to convert on 4th down.

The Eagles were able to hold the Packers to 3 downs and out, with inspiring
play by Alvin Voss, Nick Layman, Tyler Kotrous, Thomas Grove, Taylor
Escamilla, and Conor Harper, but a turnover on the quick-kick gave the ball
back to Elkhorn at the Arlington 30 yard line.

The Eagles gave a valiant effort to try to hold the Packers out of the end
zone including a nice open field tackle by Jordan Johnson, but the Packers
scored with 2 minutes left in the first half to make the score 6 to 6. The
extra point was no good.

The Eagles kicked-off to Elkhorn, to start the second half, when they
returned the ball to their own 45 yard line. Joseph Hansen ended their
drive by intercepting the ball at the Packer's 40 yard line.

Each team exchanged possession of the ball before the Packers were able to
regain control at the Eagle's 30 yard line. The defense held their ground, as Thomas Grove and Conor Harper stormed through the line on successive plays and with the help of Beau Brown and crew, put the Packers at 4th and 11 from the 18 yard line. But the next play the Packers hit pay dirt with a scoring pass. The extra point was no
good.

The Eagles took possession one last time, but the Packer defense would not
bend. With Michael Dobson at the helm, Adam Maas, Alvin Voss, Beau Brown,
Chase Kratochvil, John Mark Hunter, Nick Layman, Quinton Cottle, Stephan
Lowe, and Tyler Kotrous gave it all they had, but were unable to sustain a
drive.

In the waning minutes of the fourth quarter, the Eagle's defense put on an
outstanding goal line stand. With first and goal from the 4 yard line and
47 seconds left in the game, the Eagles dug in. The Packers moved the ball
to the 1, but a determined Eagle defense consisting of Bruce Mastin, Taylor
Escamilla, Doug Hilzendeger, Chase Kratochvil, Jordon Johnson, Conor

Harper, Nathan Hilgenkamp, Thomas Grove, Joseph Hansen, Seth Pearson, Adam

Hamre, Nathan Korus, and Tyler Kotrous, turned them away.

Final score Elkhorn Packers 12, Arlington Eagles 6.
