Eagles Rope Cowboys
The Arlington Pee Wee Eagles roped in a 25-6 win against the Elkhorn Cowboys in the last game of their regular season this past weekend. The Eagles started out at a full gallop as Nick Mohon put seven points on the board within the first thirty seconds of the first quarter. He continued providing leadership to the team on the defensive end with numerous hard-hitting tackles that shot the Cowboys out of their saddles. J.D. Kaufman, Jared Becker and Troy Thies were a defensive posse bent on keeping the Cowboys from getting a first down. On the second offensive drive by the Eagles, Kyle Reinhardt shot down the field over fifty yards for another touch down run. Once again the defensive team took control of the field and hit the Cowboys so hard they forced a turnover to the Eagles as Matthew Rassmussen recovered the ball on a fumble. Although they didn't score again in the first or second quarters, the Eagles defensive team continued to whip on the Cowboys. Britton Adams delivered a number of crushing blows to the Cowboys to include one hit that literally flipped a Cowboy completely over in mid-air.
Brad Beck and Bryce Keber opened up the third quarter by once again stopping their opponents dead in their tracks. Shortly after, Nick Mohon ran eighty yards for another Eagle T.D. The Cowboys took the ball and late in the third quarter scored their only touch down for the game. Once again Nick Mohon answered their threat with another sprint down the field for touch down. The defensive line took over to keep the Cowboys from any further scores in the game as Zach Cottle, Taylor Frederick, and Matt Cory road them out of town with hard hitting blows. The game ended as Troy Thies stopped just yards short of another Eagle T.D. as the clock ran out. The Eagles finished their regular season with a 2 and 7 record.
