Tough Valley Team Edges out Eagles
The Pee Wee Eagles battled a seasoned Valley team this week in Elkhorn. Despite an unseasonably cold temperature of 44 degrees at game time, the Eagles showed improved strength in both the offensive and defensive lines. Valley set the pace with a touchdown just after the start of the game. The Eagles were unable to answer the challenge until the second quarter when Nick Mohan put the Eagles on the board. This was the first score for the young team in four games. Kyle Reinhardt ran in the extra point against the tough Valley boys.
Britton Adams had an outstanding twenty-yard punt in the second quarter. This was followed by the quick-footed Troy Thies who stopped Valley from making any gains on the return. Matthew Ostrand energized the defensive team by foiling a long pass attempt by Valley. Matthew Rassmussen stretched out as he made a diving tackle to stop a twenty-yard run. Jared Becker followed by making a solid hit on a ten yard run.
The fourth quarter had an exciting start as Kyle Reinhardt launched a pass to Nick Mohan to answer another Valley touch down. The defensive team then kicked in for a tough fourth quarter battle. Brad Thomas , J.D. Kauffman, Emmitt Scheer, Ryan Coufal and Colton Harper pounded Valley to the point many of the V-team had to leave the field. Despite these efforts, Valley won the game 26 to 13.
The next game will be on October 1st at 4:00 P.M. against the Elkhorn Rams at Elkhorn E-1 Field.
