Purple Pee-Wee's Eat Eagles for Lunch
Blair Purple Pee Wee's had the Arlington Eagles for lunch this past weekend in a hard fought 19 - 7 win. Blair kicked off the first course with a punt to Matthew Rassmussen who had a thirteen-yard run, stopping short of fifty-yard line. Despite a number of run attempts by the Eagles, Blair took the ball on a long series of drives to score in the first quarter. The Eagle defensive line demonstrated their skills as J.D. Kauffman tackled the QB behind the line of scrimmage with the support of Colton Harper. Nick Mohon stopped an offensive run up the middle with the help of James Ruwe who injured his leg as he drove the runner down. The defensive line held tight in the second quarter, keeping Blair from serving another helping of humble pie. Zach Cottle kept a pass from being completed, followed by a great tackle by Dylan Morgan that kept the Purple Haze from scoring.
Britton Adams kicked off to Blair in the third quarter with a twelve-yard punt. J.D. Kauffman pounded the returning team hard enough to create a fumble and turnover for the Eagles. Although the Eagles didn't score on the subsequent drive, they did fluster the Blair team. Nick Mohon intercepted a ten-yard pass attempt by Blair, starting a series of offensive runs that did not reap any rewards for the Eagles.
The fourth quarter again highlighted a tough defensive line as Emmitt Scheer crushed the QB to make grape juice. Sam Stark, Kyle Reinhardt, and Taylor Frederick were hungry for steak as they bull dogged the tough Blair team down. Kyle Reinhardt then served desert as he threw a touch down pass to Jared Becker and then followed by a run in for the extra point. Bryce Keber added to the excitement in the last minutes of the game as he ran ten-yards on a pass play. Despite a disappointing loss for the Eagles, the entire team enjoyed playing in this last home game including Taylor Johnson who had been out with an injury all season.
The next game will be on October 15th at 1:00p.m. against the Elkhorn Packers at Elkhorn.
