EAGLES FAIL ATTEMPT TO DEFUSE #1 BOMBERS


The Arlington Eagle Renegade (13 & 14 year old) team come up short in lose
to the Bellevue Bombers.

The defensive units for both teams highlighted the first half play by
keeping their opponent out of the end zone.  It appeared in the 2nd quarter
of play, the Eagles were going to capitalize on an 47 yard interception
return by Adam Loftis at the Bomber 15 yard line, but were turned back on
all downs.

In the second half of play, Trevor Cuccinello replaced an injured Adam
Loftis at quarterback.  On second down, the ball was fumbled and the Bombers
fell on it at the Arlington 36 yard line.  The Bombers used their muscle up
the middle to score 6 points, then converted the extra point for a 7 point
lead.  After a failed onside kick, the Eagles took over at the Bomber 49
yard line, but fumbled the ball on the next play.  Two plays later the
Bombers fumbled the ball back to the Eagles at the Bomber 47 yard line.  The
Eagles couldn't capitalize and punted the ball to the Bombers.  Three plays
later the Bombers ran a sweep to the right side and ran 76 yards for the
score.  The extra point was good, and the Eagles fell behind by 14 points.

In the fourth quarter, Adam Loftis returned to the game and the Eagles put
together a solid drive.  They started out on the their 39 yard line and
drove it in for the touchdown with 6 minutes left  Adam Monke ran up the
middle for the extra point and the Eagles were only a touchdown away.  The
Eagles got a break, when the Bombers fumbled the ball.  However, the Eagles
facing a 4th down and 4 yards to go on the Bomber 26 yard line and 46
seconds left on the clock, were stopped on a sweep around the right side.
The Bombers ran out the clock to win the game 14 to 7.

The Renegades play the Millard Cornhuskers at Millard West, October 22nd at
Noon.
