Eagles: 32           Gladiators: 12

EAGLES SOAR OVER GLADIATORS

The Arlington Eagle Renegade (13 & 14 year old) team defeated the Omaha
Gladiators 32 to 12 in an Omaha South Division match up.

The Eagles, facing the Gladiators for the first time, didn't let the Omaha
team intimidate them.  After running back the opening kickoff to the
Arlington 36 yard line, the Eagle offensive line pushed the Gladiator
defense on their heels and Adam Monke scooted around the left side of the
field for a 55 yard touchdown play.  After failing to convert the extra
point, they kicked off to the Gladiators and held them at the Gladiator 49
yard line.  The Eagle defense stood tall led by Kyle Brown, Jonathan Bauman,
Cole Kratochvil, Ben Johnson, Joe Kecy, Mitch Amundson, Adam Monke, Jared
Peirce, Adam Loftis, John Kecy and Trevor Cucinello stopped the Gladiators
from scoring the entire 1st half of play.
The Gladiator defense also played tough the first two quarters and held the
Eagle offense from scoring again.

During halftime, both teams made some adjustments which made for an exciting
second half of play.  After the Eagle defense stopped the Gladiators, Eagle
quarterback, Adam Loftis, running a sweep to the right side, suddenly
reversed directions and scampered 47 yards along the left side of the field
for the touchdown.  The extra point run was good and the Eagles went ahead
by 13 points.  After holding the Gladiators on the next series of downs, the
Eagles took possession of the ball at the Arlington 35 yard line.  On a trap
play, wingback, Trevor Cuccinello, ran 49 yards to the Gladiator 26 yard
line.  The offensive line punched a hole in the middle of the Gladiator line
for Monke to run through for another touchdown.  After the extra point pass
attempt failed, Arlington led by 19 points.  Eagle defenders, Tyler
Chappelear, Tucker Merz, Lance Peterson, James Pavlik, Alex Anstey, Tyler
Baker, came up with big plays to stop the Gladiators from scoring in the 3rd
period.

In the fourth quarter, the Gladiators got on the board with a 39 yard run,
but missed their extra point.  The Eagles responded quickly and pushed aside
attempts for a Gladiator comeback.  After downing the kickoff at the
Arlington 27 yard line, Monke ran through the Gladiator defense for a 73
yard touchdown.  The Eagles converted their extra point and led the
Gladiators, 26 to 6.  The Gladiators took the kickoff and marched down the
field for another score, but couldn't convert the extra point.  The Eagles
gave up the ball on a fumble at the Arlington 49 yard line, but three plays
later, got it back on a Lotfis interception and run back to the Gladiator 33
yard line.  Loftis, running behind his excellent offensive line, ran another
28 yards to the Gladiator 5 yard line.  Monke finished off the drive with a
5 yard run up the middle to end of the game with the Eagles on top, 32 to
12.
