AYF 2003 Final Report and Banquet Pictures

The Arlington Youth Football (AYF) organization had it's 2003 Recognition and Awards banquet on Sunday, October 26th.  After a potluck supper and slide show, many thanks were directed to the coaches (Steve Johnson, ScottHamre, Jeff Hallstrom, Scott Ostrand, Tim Miller, Doug Ernesti, Jeff Burianek, Adam Loftis and Adam Monke), Board members (Scott Ostrand, Traci Vogt, Sherone Stork, Jeff Burianek, Amy Hill, David Dam, Stuart Beck and Paul Thies) and all the parent volunteers for another successful football season.  Special recognition went to Midget coaches, Steve Johnson and Scott Hamre for their dedication and service to AYF over the past 6 years.  They were both given a plaque and a standing ovation from the players, coaches and parents. 

There were three football awards which were given to the Pee Wee (8, 9 and 10 years old) and Midget players (11 and 12 year olds).  Nick Burianek, Zachary Erickson, Cory Moravec, Matthew O'Dell, Kale Peterson, Phillip Rasmussen, Austin Sampson, Mitchell Thompson, Joe Vampola and Ryan Beck were presented "Student/Athlete awards for receiving straight 'A's during the first quarter of school.  They also divided a $500 Margaret Thies Memorial Scholarship which is donated by the Thies family since 2002 and given to players who have shown excellence in academics off the field.  Three Pee Wee players received special Sportsmanship awards for their excellent conduct in practices and games, they were

Loftis, Micah Sundberg and Phillip Rasmussen.  The Midget coaches commended their entire Midget team for their excellent behavior toward each other and toward their opponents.  For the "Team Leader" award in which the players voted for the player who motivated them and showed excellent leadership during the season, there was a tie on the Pee Wee team between Logon French and Ben Loftis and Midget players selected Taylor Johnson.

The Pee Wee team each received a Medallion for their participation in the 2003 AYF season.  Their record was 4-4, showed improvement every week and won their last two games of the season.  The Midget team received a trophy for going 7-1 and placing second in the EVW Youth Football league.  Their only loss came was to the eventual champion, Missouri Valley, who went undefeated.  The communities involved in EVW Youth Football are Arlington, Bennington, Blair, Elkhorn, Fort Calhoun, Gretna, Missouri Valley, Northwest Omaha, Valley and Yutan.
