The Arlington Youth Football organization held it's annual Recognition and
Awards banquet on Sunday, October 24. After the potluck dinner, Youth
Football Commissioner, Paul Thies, recognized the following AYF Board
members, Scott Ostrand, Sherone Stork, Jeff Burianek, Susie Moravec, Amy
Hill, Stuart Beck for the 2004 season; Midget Coaches: Scott Ostrand, Bill
Menking, Curt Moore, Adam Monke, Adam Loftis and Tyler Baker, PeeWee
Coaches: Tim Miller, Doug Ernesti, Jeff Burianek, Jason Wiese, Brandon Mues
and Todd Donnealy; Photographers: Cathi Sampson, Tuesday Neary and Jim
Loftis; Game Announcers: David Dam, Kelly Thompson and John Neary;
volunteers who worked in the concession stand, chain gang, game spotters and
team assistants.
After a great
slide show (produced by Stuart Beck), AHS senior players, Adam Monke and
Adam Loftis spoke to the crowd of 200 players, parents and other
volunteers. Monke and Loftis spoke of their early football experiences in
youth football, both beginning at age 11 (in 1998) and how those experiences
helped them in junior and high school football. Monke and Loftis, were part
of a larger group of players their age who enjoyed playing with each other
and played the game of football with a lot of heart and intensity.
Awards were
given out to the following players: Sportsmanship awards went to Cody
Erickson, Taylor Mues, Phillip Rasmussen, Connor Clark, Cory Moravec, Sean
Thies, Mitchell Thompson, Joseph Vampola and Makota Fogg. The Team Leader
awards went to Phillip Rasmussen and Cory Moravec for the PeeWees and Matt
Ostrand for the Midget team.
The Margaret
Thies Student Athlete Scholarships went to: Austin Sampson, Jack Scott, Sam
Neary, Jacob Korus, Tanner Smith, Preston Thompson, Mitch Thompson and Kale
Peterson.
There were 62
players who played this year and they were all recognized for their hard
work and effort over the past football season.
