AYF 2006 SEASON RECOGNITION & AWARDS

 The Arlington Youth Football organization recognized the following players for leadership and sportsmanship for the 2006 football season:

Team Leader Awards went to Ross Miller and Matt O’Dell

Sportsmanship Awards went to Jacob Korus, Christian Vogt, Logan Tate, Cory Moravec, Matt O’Dell, Tanner Moyer and Derek Kenkel.

Arlington Youth Football (AYF) - 2006

PRACTICE SCHEDULES-  The head coaches of each team will be supplying a practice schedule for each player to take home.
 PEEWEE PRACTICE SCHEDULE
VOLUNTEERS-
  Volunteers are still needed for this season in these areas: 

Game Photographers- Use our digital camera to take game pictures for the newspaper and for the end of the season slide show.  Contact Tony Riecken (478-4094)

Game Reporters- Write news story on each game (home and away) for submission to the Arlington Citizen.  Home game reports are paid $25 and away games $35.  Contact Tony Riecken (478-4094) 

The volunteer work schedules will be handed out in the next week for all duties for home and away games. 

PICTURES-  August 17 (Thursday) – Photos by MDP will begin at 5 PM at the north end of the practice field.  Players are to wear their game jerseys and gray (game) pants.  Bring your practice uniform for practice after pictures. 

PROGRAMS-  Football programs will again be available this year on or around the time of the first game.  This year, each player will receive a free program.  Additional programs will be available for $3 each.  Contact Tom Vogt or Paul Thies. 

YOUTH FOOTBALL APPAREL-  Order forms must be turned in with payment made to Arlington Youth Football by August 12th.  A final order will be submitted on August 27th.  Submit all order forms to Gina Vogt. (present at peewee practices)

 GAME JERSEYS-  Game jerseys will be handed out at a later date, prior to the 17th for pictures.  We’ll keep you informed.  Players will have the opportunity to receive their previous years number.

 WEIGH-INS- Weigh-ins will take place at Blair High School on August 23rd at 6PM SHARP!   Be there 5 minutes early.  The player MUST wear his game jersey for the weigh-in.  A second un-announced weigh-in will take place at some time during the season at one of the games.

2005 END OF SEASON RECOGNITION AWARDS

 The Arlington Youth Football organization recognized the following players for leadership and sportsmanship for the 2005 football season:

Team Leader Awards went to Ben Loftis, Phillip Rasmussen and Luke Anderson.

Sportsmanship Awards went to Cory Moravec, Taylor Scheer, Cody Erickson, Cameron Menard, Cody Pearson, Nathan Allen, Dale Schulte, Luke Anderson, Joe Vampola, Jacob Korus, Josh Schollmeyer, Zach Erickson,
Phillip Rasmussen and Kale Peterson.

The Margaret Thies Student Athlete Memorial Scholarship ($500) is awarded to those players who had straight A's in their studies during the 1st quarter of the school semester.  The following ten players received equal proceeds from this scholarship for any current or future academic endeavors: 
Jacob Korus, Tanner Smith, Blake Bracht, Matthew Jensen, Kale Peterson, Noah Borgmann, Matthew O'Dell,
Calen Kollars, Ross Miller, Jacob Allen and Ben Loftis.

 
8-28-05

August 24th – this Wednesday!  Mandatory Weigh-ins beginning at 6 PM.  All players must be weighed at Blair High School or they can not play. Every player must wear only their jersey!    If your player does not have a jersey, one will be given out that night to wear.  

August 28th – First Home Games – Volunteer sheets will be handed out on Thursday.   Those parents must show up to help during their time or contact Tom Vogt.  
October 23rd
  - Post-season games, hopefully at home, TBD.
October 30th
– Awards and Recognition Banquet 

Additional Notes:
- I was informed on Monday that the AHS journalism students will not be writing our game reports for the Arlington Citizen and Website any longer.  Unless we can find someone (parents, relatives, others) who are willing to write up a short articles on the games, there will be no articles in the newspaper or website.  There is compensation ($25 home game articles and $30 away game articles) for anyone who is interested.  Contact Paul Thies, 616-5270 or Tom Vogt 719-4772, ASAP.

- The pictures are done and will be handed out this week at practice.  Any problems with your pictures, contact Wurgler Photo, 551-3700.  
- The T-shirts and Sweatshirts are also done (hats are on back order for 1 week).  Any problems, contact CustomInk and talk to Becky Hilgenkamp. 
- The football programs will be ready by the September 11th games.  If your company would like to donate to the AYF program, please let Susie Moravec know, ASAP. (402-727-2790).  Deadline is August 26th.   
- See “arlingtonyouthfootball.org” for more information, game maps, schedules, standings, pictures, etc.
 - Any questions/concerns during the season can be directed toward Tom Vogt or Paul Thies.

 

4-8-05   Arlington Youth Football (AYF) is taking registrations for the upcoming football season, which will begin practice on August 1st.  Youth, who will be in grades 3-7 during the 2005/2006 school year, are eligible to play tackle football.  The registration form and fee of $75 are due by May 15 with a late fee of $25 assessed after May 22.  The registration form can be printed from AYF website or can be picked up at Arlington Elementary or St. Paul Lutheran school.  Any questions can be directed to

Wednesday, August 11th

Weigh-ins.   6:30 - Arlington Midgets & PeeWees at  Blair High School.   All players must weigh-in, this night, to be eligible to play this season.  We want all players to be at Blair High School.
If for some reason you know your son cannot make the August 11th date, we can make arrangements to weigh him on the 15th or 18th in Elkhorn.  Please let Paul Thies, know prior to August 11th.

Saturday, July 31st, Coaches meeting for all communities, Noon at Library Field.  

 

Monday, August 2nd  All Parents and Players

 

·         First day of practice for both Pee Wee (8, 9 & 10 year-old) and Midget (11 & 12 year-old) teams. 

 

·        Parents are required to sign AYF and EVW forms, so please stay with your child and get that done.  If we have to track you down, expect to pay an additional late fee.

 

·         Need a birth certificate “COPY”’ for all NEW players!!  Please do not forget.

 

·         Equipment (except jersey’s) will be handed out.  For this night only, players should come with their helmet, shorts, t-shirt, shoes.  After this practice, the coaches will require every player to come to practice with their pads, practice pants, helmet, a “big” t-shirt (Dad’s?) to fit over their pads, socks, cleats.   Water is generally available, however parents can have players bring sports drinks, water, etc.

o        PeeWee equipment fitting is between 5 – 5:30 PM.  Practice at 6 PM.

o        Jr PeeWee equipment fitting is between 5:30 – 6 PM.  Practice at 6 PM.

o        Midgets equipment fitting is between 6 – 7 PM.  Practice at 7 PM.

·         Parents need to bring their check book – deposit of $150 (held until the equipment is returned)

·         Jersey’s will be handed out the following week.

 

·         Coaches will inform the team what their practice schedule will be like from that day on. 

·         Note:  All 7th and 8th grade Midgets (attending AHS) must sign up to play Junior High football.

·         There will be an opportunity to order T-shirts, sweatshirts and hats.  Need checkbook!

 

Football Equipment supplied by parents: 

§         Football Helmet – Make sure it is certified (new or used), white, with gray face mask

§         Shoes – molded cleats – no metal cleats are allowed

§         Football socks – Maroon in color

§         Athletic supporters and eyeglasses

Congratulations:  To the PeeWee players and coaches for their  last regular season game win over Mo. Valley Big Reds.

  The Midget: Players and coaches gave us an exciting season and ended up 6-1 clinching 2nd in the American Division.

  Championship Weekend Schedules:
Saturday (18th): Arlington Pee Wees against the Elkhorn Saints - 8:30 AM at E1 Field.
Sunday (19th): Arlington Midgets against the Elkhorn Packers - Noon at E1 Field

  Next Games: PeeWees and Midgets will travel to Missouri Valley to play on Sunday. Start times are at 1:00 and 3:00.

   Next Games: PeeWees will host Ft. Calhoun and Midgets will host NW Tigers Orange on Sunday at 1:00 and 3:00.  Location: Arlington High School.

Congratulations:  To both Midget and PeeWee players and coaches for their wins over the Elkhorn and Blair.

Schedule Correction: We will be playing Blair Silver not Gold on Sunday.

   Next Games: PeeWees and Midgets will play Blair Silver on Sunday at 1:00 and 3:00.  Location: Dana College in Blair.

Next Games: Midgets will play Elkhorn Rams on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Elkhorn E-1 Field.   Sunday, the PeeWees will be playing Blair Purple at Dana College in Blair.  Start time Noon.
